Grade 9 student Avery Mackenzie did the School proud this past weekend at the Midget Boys OFSAA Cross-Country Championships in Ottawa.

The 5,250 metre course was technically challenging with rolling hills, winding curves and narrow paths. Avery sprinted out in the first 400m and gained a good position ahead of a majority of the field. This maneuver kept him out of trouble and from being potentially trapped behind slower runners. From there
he worked his magic to the finish.

In the end, Avery completed the course in 18:33 minutes and placed 31st out of 240 runners. It was a great finish to the season!
